“Green Conferencing” – Colourful Bags made from Billboard Banners

To re-use existing non bio-degradable material to avoid plastic waste is the idea behind this green initiative. Hundreds of Billboard Banners are put up in Southern Africa every day: at airports, hotels and along the highways. They are only used for a short time at selected places; they are colourful and stand-out with snappy slogans.

But no-one hardly thinks about the huge amounts of synthetic, plastic and toxic waste generated for just a very short period after usage of the banners. These banners are now given a second life and bags are produced from the material in the underprivileged areas of Cape Town.

Each bag is a unique designer-piece, cut and joined from single components – an environmental concept which re-uses material and creates fun through fashion.

The bag protects from rain and water and the size is suitable for laptops and other Congress materials. It also eliminates bags getting mixed up during Conferences: Every participant receives his/her own unique bag due to the kind of material used. However, branding can be implemented and Conference Logos can be printed onto the flaps.

These bags with unique designs and sound recycling concepts will enable the organizer to introduce a “Green” aspect into their Conference or Congress.
